ATTRACTIONS
BEACHES
The are many fine sandy beaches nearby.  Drakes Island beach is just down the road, and has lifeguards on duty, public rest rooms, and plenty of parking.  Wells Beach and Parsons Beach are also within a few minutes drive.  Other beaches in the area include Wells' Crescent Beach, Ogunquit Beach and Kennebunk Beach.

RESTAURANTS

While you are vacation with us, you will have the opportunity to try some excellent cuisine.  Many fine seafood and steak restaurants may be found close by.  Here's you chance to find out what real Maine lobster is all about!  There are many other more casual restaurants which serve breakfasts, pizza, burgers, and other quickly prepared food.   Vegetarian menus are available in many of our local restaurants.   Whatever your appetite, you will have many dining options.


GOLF COURSES

Feel like golf?  There is an excellent par 3 course just around the corner.  There are also several full 18 hole championship courses just minutes away.  For those who prefer mini golf, Wells has several mini golf courses.
FISHING
Area fishing is great!  There are Stripers worth bragging about at Drakes Island Beach and at other local fishing areas.  Blues are also hitting hard this season, so don't forget your rod and tackle.  If you do forget your fishing gear, there is a local bait and tackle shop that has fishing equipment both for rent and for sale.  Bait is also available. 
BACK TO NATURE
The Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve offers a peaceful & educational 7 mile walk along the coast of Maine or you may prefer one of the many nature trails at The Rachel Carson or Laudholm Farm Reserves - all within 1 mile of the Tidewood.
SHOPPING
There are bargains to be gotten at the nearby FACTORY OUTLETS.  Great prices on such brand named merchandise as Dexter, Cannon, Nike, Reebok and many more.  L.L. Bean of Freeport is 45 minutes to the North for those who want a short getaway to shop at this famous Maine store.  Freeport has many other outlet stores as well. 

Locally, Wells is the unofficial used and rare bookstore capital of the world.  Antique dealers and local crafters abound the area.  Many other fine shops and stores can be found in the area up and down Route 1, and adjoining roads.

KID'S STUFF
Kids may enjoy our wonderful beaches, Trolley rides, area fishing, mini golf courses, several local arcades, and our new multi screen cinema at the Wells Shopping Plaza (which features first run movies).  The Wells Recreation Area has slides, swings, tennis, sports fields, and a family picnic area.  At Wells Beach, there is a small park with playground equipment. The Laudholm Farm Reserve offers a summer day camp for children 9-12.
TROLLEY SERVICE
Seasonal trolley service is available in Wells and Ogunquit.  The trolley is a fun way to get around the area.  Take the trolley to the beach, for a short sightseeing trip, to do some shopping, or just for the fun of it.   There are numerous trolley stops along Route 1 for your convenience.
